Our state-of-the-art facility utilizes advanced technologies, including AI-powered quality control systems, to ensure precision and identify opportunities for further improvement. From sourcing raw materials to extensive internal laboratory testing and final inspection, our robust quality program ensures that every matboard we produce meets, and often exceeds, industry benchmarks such as the Professional Picture Framers Association & Fine Art Trade Guild (PPFA, FATG) standards. We’re also proud to offer our flagship Museum (100% cotton) line of products, which are made in-house, and individually PAT certified through the Image Permanence Institute of Technology at RIT, providing the highest level of protection for your most valued works.

OUR HISTORY

1902
Founded as Turner Bros in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.
1902
1924
Turner Brothers acquires Card and Paper Works Limited adding price cards, illustration and canvas boards, as well as matboards to its product range.
1924
1932
Entered a Joint Venture with National Card and Mat of California allowing for further North American distribution.
1932
1979
Reincorporated as Peterboro Cardboards Limited

2001
Alan Yaffe (a Canadian picture framer) buys Peterboro Cardboards Ltd.
2001
2002
Alan begins to revamp manufacturing techniques and raw materials. The entire Peterboro line of products is re-engineered and revitalized.

Peterboro begins to build new computer operated machines that drastically increase production.

Alan’s son, Steve, joins the Peterboro team, bringing his experience as a published photographer to enhance the company’s creative direction while immersing himself in the fundamentals of production, materials, automation, operations, and distribution.

Ongoing improvements are made to enhance product quality, including the integration of AI systems for advanced quality monitoring.
